Exhalar Studio was created in October 2021 by Kate to fill what she believed as a need in the town of Girona. Not only do we share quality classes designed to benefit your overall holistic wellness, but this is a friendly space to meet like-minded people, and our community of members and instructors is what makes the studio so special. This unique cave-studio is personal enough to receive hands-on attention to build a stronger body and mind, with experienced and internationally trained instructors who genuinely care about your wellbeing. No matter where you come from, where you live now, whether you are a mother, student, athlete, professional, local or expat, there is space for everyone inside Exhalar Studio.

Hi! My name is Kate Dix and I am the creator of Exhalar Studio. I was born in New Zealand, grew up in Australia and now find myself in Girona, Spain. I am an optimistic, passionate wellness enthusiast who loves to share with others my favourite practices of Yoga, Pilates and Barre. I discovered my passion for health and wellness in my late teens, as I found that sport and exercise was the best way to connect with others and meet new friends, as well as a healthy outlet for emotions and mental wellbeing. I have a mixed background in triathlon, long distance running, cheerleading and dance and now my daily movement routine includes yoga, pilates and spending time out in nature with my dog.

After realising my passion for health and wellbeing, I decided to study Health and Physical Education, however I soon realised the career path of a school teacher was not for me. What I found myself drawn to was holistic group fitness, inspiring others to be active and working one to one with people, sharing my personal practices that have helped me build a stronger, happier and more balanced body and mind. Choosing the path of my passions has lead me to work through many limiting fears and beliefs about myself, such as speaking in front of groups, overcoming anxiety, and putting my authentic self out there. I hope to share my own experiences and learnings with others through my classes, trainings and more.

My name is Jessica and I am a Barre and Pilates instructor. Coming from a Gymnastic and Dance background fitness and creativity have always been a part of my life. Choosing to follow my passion and study Dance at University was a big shock to my family (and society!) but in doing this I found my love of not only creating and performing but teaching. Dance enabled me to travel the world whilst working and growing both as a dancer and as a person. Switching my days of dancing for restaurant management came naturally to me but was never soul fulfilling and when Covid-19 hit, it was the perfect opportunity to once again follow my passions and retrain in Barre and Pilates.

Living in Melbourne, Australia, for a few years I found a love of movement to nurture and celebrate our bodies, rather than punish it was such a refreshing, empowering take on fitness; one that I had not seen before. Because of this I took the knowledge from my dance background and dared myself to sink into the world of wellness and fitness; studying both principles in Melbourne and bringing that knowledge to Europe. Becoming a teacher I would want to train with has been my biggest challenge and joy. Taking the principles of classical Pilates with strength based training, cardio and stretching creates a dynamic and strong practice connecting with the breath and the body in a mindful way. I have learned to love every injury and challenge, to research, grow and observe how the body protects itself and the strength in which we have within ourselves.

I take regular Yoga, Barre and Pilates classes myself to keep challenging and growing my practice and becoming more insightful with each class, thus creating a better understanding of my clients needs and wants. For me, the most important part of class is feeling powerful within yourself, listening to your body that day and knowing the wants and needs of you and not comparing yourself to others, or your former self. We all have the power within ourselves to transform, we just need to unleash it!
